Submission Instructions:

  • Please upload manuscripts of articles, reports, reviews, abstracts, and other contributions to Submittable in MS Word format.
  • Please note that all correspondence will be carried out via email. Please email the editors at directions@crrf-fcrr.ca with any queries or concerns.
  • Articles should be between 4,000 to 6,000 words, inclusive of abstract, footnotes, references, tables, as well as a biographical statement of approx. 250 words and (optional) acknowledgements.
  • Editorial/opinion pieces should be 1,500-2,000 words.
  • Book reviews should be approximately 1,500-2,000 words.
  • Abstracts should be between 100-150 words.
  • Please do not include any identifying materials on your manuscript to ensure anonymity in the review process. Only include author’s names on the title page.
  • Submissions will be accepted until February 28, 2017

Formatting:

  • The manuscript should be 8 ½ by 11 inches, paper size letter standard with 1 inch (2.5 cm) margins, on all four sides.

  • The document should be double spaced, 12 point font should be used for all text, including headings, footnotes, and references.

  • Headings should be written in bold and centred, subheadings should be written in bold italics with a flush-left treatment, and first level subheadings should be written in italics with a flush-left treatment.

  • Tables and figures should be numbered and included in the document at the end of the article, before the Reference List. In the place of these tables and figures in the body of the text, write ‘Put Figure/Table [number] here’ centred in bold.

  • Numerals less than 10 should be spelled out.

  • Foreign language uncommon words should be italicized.

  • URLS should not be located in the main text.

Cover Page:

  • The cover page should provide the title of the article written in bold, as well as complete contact information of each author (address, phone, academic affiliation, email). It should also include a total word count and number of tables and figures included.

  • NOTE: The cover of manuscripts will not be shared with reviewers to maintain anonymity of authors.

Abstract:

  • Articles should include an abstract of 100-150 words on a separate page following the cover page. 

  • The abstract should provide the purpose, research question, methods, and a brief explanation of general findings.

  • The abstract should include 5-8 key words, which should be alphabetized and should not duplicate the article title.

  • You can also submit an abstract without an accompanying article for our review. We will then provide feedback about this regarding its potential to be made into an article for our publication.

Referencing Guidelines:

  • The reference list should be placed after the main text of the article, in a section entitled ‘References’.

  • References should be listed in alphabetical order by author, and chronologically within each author by year of publication.

  • Every author listed in the reference list must be cited in the main text or foot notes, and every author cited in the main text and foot notes must be listed in the reference list.

  • References should follow the Publication Manual of the American Psychological Association.

Review and Publication:

  • Author submissions will be acknowledged within 48 hours of submission.

  • The CRRF reserves the right to edit papers and request revision from authors.

  • Manuscripts will be sent out anonymously for a blind review to two referees with relevant experience and expertise.

  • Editors will respond to the author with their decision and a list of any changes required to be accepted for publication.
